I have also learnt to challenge conventions like in Purgatory, but maybe not to the extent of Sacrifice when it becomes just too weird. Canted angles and open framing seem to be the norm in post-apocalyptic trailers so I will still include them to show an eerie atmosphere and to stay conventional.
I have started brainstorming some ideas for my trailer and possible music to use here;
- Start of with the apocalypse, then climax, then end peaceful (challenge conventions)
- "She was a swathe of blazing colour in a monochrome world": person in colour, monochrome background.
- Melancholy bell- black at first, then a flash of one still and fade to black again each time (No Man's Land) (similar to the Swan Song promo in last post)
- "Ask not for whom the bell tolls" - narrator
- The Way - Zack Hemsey (Instrumental) http://youtu.be/oN2Xs-MvxLw
- World on Fire - Les Friction (Instrumental) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FKGn3dVa0w
"Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee."
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee."
- John Donne, For whom the bell tolls (No man is an island)
