Most of these locations are based in East Durham College, Willerby Grove, Peterlee,
County Durham, SR8 2RN (0191 518 2000) and my actors are based there- it is local
and east to shoot there and looks perfect for a post apocalyptic trailer. The forest
pictures, however, are set in the Dene, but it is still close to the college.
The construction room caves might be a bit difficult to film in as they are very dark but
I could light them up making it look natural.
The outside of the construction room looks very post apocalyptic and I could get some
nice shots looking through the fence. There is also a small car park (I would have used
the main car park but it's very hard to get it empty and open at the same time) I could
use to establish the emptiness. There's also a hill and a room overlooking it so I could
get some impressive high angles.
The Lubetkin Theatre would look amazing empty like above in a post apocalyptic trailer
adding to the eeriness.
The next few pictures are various equipment in the theatre balcony I could use and look
sci-fi/apocalyptic/unused.
The science lab will be one of the main locations for the trailer being where Nye is based.
It might be difficult to disguise the fact it's a classroom but with the right camera angles,
I should be able to get away with it.
The college is full of corridors like this. The one in the performing arts area apparently
has red lights which would look amazing in my trailer. I will have to enquire further
about this.
The car park I will use andwill be emptied for the shoot as I want to establish the
emptiness of the world with the protagonists wondering through it (symbolism).
Sarah, Your blog seems to be coming along. I would like to see some more regular posts on here to ensure that you are staying on schedule. You should be thinking about shooting your footage soon. So think of things to be included, script, storyboards, casting etc.
